How To & Safety
SNHUGG Sling Instructions
1. Put on your SNHUGG set.
2. Wrap the sling around your tummy securely, pulling tightly as you tie.
3. Cross the fabric over at the back.
4. Lift the fabric up over your shoulders, ensuring they are not twisted.
5. Bring the fabric forwards and position each side along the sling seam.
6. Decide whether you would like to tie the sling at the front or rear.
7. Place your baby inside the fabric, keeping them close to your body, then follow with the second cross over.
8. Pull the remaining fabric, which was first folded over, onto your baby’s back for added support.
These steps will ensure your baby is securely positioned and comfortable in the sling.
It is paramount that these instructions are followed to ensure the safety of your baby.
The acronym T.I.C.K.S. is commonly used to outline safety guidelines for carrying babies in slings and carriers. Here’s what each letter stands for:
T.I.C.K.S. Safety Guidelines:
1. Tight
• The sling or carrier should be tight enough to hold your baby securely against you. Loose fabric can cause your baby to slump, which can hinder breathing.
2. In View at All Times
• You should always be able to see your baby’s face without having to move the sling or carrier. This ensures you can monitor their breathing and comfort.
3. Close Enough to Kiss
• Your baby’s head should be close enough to your chin that you can easily tilt your head down and kiss their forehead or the top of their head.
4. Keep Chin Off the Chest
• Ensure there’s at least a finger’s width of space under your baby’s chin. If their chin is pressed against their chest, it can restrict their airway and make breathing difficult.
5. Supported Back
• Your baby’s back should be in a natural, slightly curved position with their tummy and chest snug against you. Ensure their back is not slumped, as this can compress their airway.
Additional Tips for Safe Babywearing:
• Age-Appropriate Positioning: Use slings and carriers designed for your baby’s size and developmental stage. For newborns, use models that offer proper neck and head support.
• Breathing Space: Ensure there is a clear airway at all times. Avoid fabric covering your baby’s face.
• Inspect the Sling: Check for wear, tear, or weak seams before each use.
• Temperature Awareness: Babies can overheat in slings, so dress them appropriately for the weather and monitor their temperature regularly.
• Avoid Hazardous Activities: Do not engage in activities like running, cycling, or cooking while wearing a baby in a sling or carrier.
Following these guidelines can help you keep your baby safe and comfortable while babywearing.
